To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Burlington City Arts, 30 straight hours of art activities will take place on Church Street, in City Hall Park and at The BCA Center:
FRIDAY, AUGUST 5:
All Day: Installation by Dux the Balloon Man on lower Church Street, City Hall Block
5pm - 10pm: CHURCH OF CIRCUS, a 'pop-up' group art exhibit installed temporarily in the former Outdoor Gear Exchange storefront at 152 Cherry Street, just off Upper Church Street. In a dizzying installation of sculpture, painting, photography and performance art, 10 Vermont-based artists put their own spin on the Brechtian tradition of collaboration and audience participation as a vehicle to aesthetic experience.
9am – Midnight: Exhibitions at The BCA Center: JDK Design – Thought Bombers, and Lewis Rubenstein – Legacy – 9am to Midnight
3pm Friday – 9pm Saturday: Monkeys Vs. Bananas: A massive public artwork lead by artist, Abby Manock will be created over the course of 30 consecutive hours. The public is invited to come down to the park-side façade of The BCA Center and participate in an enthusiastic, large scale, interactive painting project which will be broadcast live at Burlingtoncityarts.org, courtesy of Cortex Marketing. Costumes provided. Everyone Welcome.
5pm – 10pm: JDK Design kite-making workshop in The BCA Center.
8:30pm: Michel Groisman performs Door of Hands on the BCA Center Plaza in City Hall Park. Workshop /Demonstration to follow
9pm – Midnight: Birthday party at BCA Center with DJ Disco Phantom, cash bar and ice cream cake!!!
