Art from the Heart connects volunteers, pediatric patients and art supplies at the Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care. The waiting areas, in-patient hospital rooms and chemotherapy infusion bays become temporary art studios for patients and their families, transforming the hospital environment.
Each year, the program showcases the young artists' work by producing an assortment of greeting cards that can be pre-ordered for the holiday season or a special occasion. Art from the Heart also exhibits patient's work several times throughout the year, where families of participating children, volunteers, donors, and staff members from BCA and Fletcher Allen come together to celebrate the children, volunteers, and the art of healing.
Art from the Heart is always looking for volunteers who have compassion, creativity, and love working with children. Artistic interest is important, but experience is not necessary. If you'd like to volunteer, please fill out an adult volunteer application on Fletcher Allen Health Care Center’s website: http://www.fletcherallen.org/community_resources/volunteers/the_process/. The hospital's volunteer office will contact you once they receive a completed application to get you started.
Art from the Heart was founded by Abby Rose and is modeled after the Harlem Horizon Art Studio at the Harlem Hospital Center in NY.
Art From The Heart is funded in part by support from The Children's Miracle Network at Vermont Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Northfield Savings Bank.
