Nicholas Edward Williams at BCA Summer Concert Series

August 2, 2019, 12:30PM - 1:30PM

Burlington City Arts' Summer Concert Series presented by VSECU features Nicholas on August 2.

Living on the road for the better part of the last six years, nomadic storyteller Nicholas Edward Williams blends American folk songwriting with Piedmont blues and Travis-style fingerpicking, melodic vocals, rolling harmonica, whistling and a stompbox. The variety of his influences is evident in his songs, from Doc Watson to Mississippi John Hurt, and from John Prine to Paul Simon. The end product is a sound that feels familiar, yet new.

The 34-year-old amounted a wealth of a career under his debut folk moniker "Whetherman" from 2007 to 2018, opening for critically acclaimed acts such as Taj Mahal and The Wood Brothers, as well as releasing eight full-length albums while touring extensively throughout the US and Europe.

Now exclusively performing under his full name, a new direction of music has emerged from a love for all things roots: Folk, Bluegrass, Country, and Blues. His debut album "As I Go Ramblin' Around" is slated to release in June of 2019.

Burlington City Arts' annual summer concert series presented by VSECU kicks off on June 12. All are welcome to enjoy 22 free concerts, this year on lower Church Street near City Hall. The series takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. from June 12 to August 28. We've programmed a line-up that features both our local favorites and some from further afield that may be new to you. It's an excellent opportunity to listen to new music, have lunch with a friend or co-worker or enjoy being outside with your community, supporting live music.

As of May 1, sponsors include VSECU, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Dubois & King, Church Street Marketplace, NBC 5, 104.7 The Point, and Seven Days.
