Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont’s Kids Zone featuring Bucket o’ Fun

City Hall Park  

The south lawn of City Hall Park becomes the Kids Zone, with ongoing performance workshops and a kid-produced show each day. Led by Burlington-based theater professional Trish Denton and circus artist Eric Denice, Bucket O' Fun is an educational performance team rallying side-show flavored community spectacles for all-ages. Bucket O’ Fun began in 2006 when the team traveled to Maine to attempt a daring 4- man roller-diamond using only skates and suspenders. The successful event was such a racket that the fun never ended!

Drop-in to the Kids Zone for face painting, whimsical make-and-takes, Bucket O’ Fun circus arts workshops, games and more!

Saturday & Sunday, August 4th & 5th, 12:00pm-5pm – FREE!
Recommended for ages: 6-14 (All skill levels welcome), limit 30 participants per session. Sign-up is first come, first serve, parents must accompany their children.

WORKSHOPS:

  

Juggling

Learn the highs and lows of juggling. Participants will create and personalize their own juggling balls and will learn techniques for juggling scarves, hoops and balls.

  

Spieling and Snake Oil

Learn how to cultivate your “belt” voice for barking. Be prepared for astonishing and astronomical alliterations. The latter half of the hour will be used for fast-talking snake oil salesman training.

  

Acrobatics and Clowning:

Learn some partner acrobatics, parent-child acrobatics, clowning and light tumbling.

  

Show Crafting:

Come practice your tricks and learn how to craft a show! Trish and Eric will help participants create a spectacle of small vignettes to be presented at 4:30pm to a live audience.

  

Parade and Show

Bucket O’ Fun workshop participants will perform a spectacle of small vignettes for folks young and old. All are welcome to view the show!
