BURLINGTON, VT – After months of workshops, artist engagement projects, research and discussion, a draft plan outlining a vision for the South End will be presented to the community on Tuesday, June 16th at 6:00pm at Arts Riot on Pine Street. A second opportunity to see a presentation and offer feedback will be at 8:00am on Wednesday, June 17th, also at Arts Riot. After these two live events, there will be two months of ongoing input via the web and smaller community/stakeholder meetings before final considerations are integrated into the plan.

For Tuesday’s event, dinner will be available starting at 5:00pm, with the presentation at 6:00pm followed by discussion/feedback.
For Wednesday morning’s event, breakfast will be available starting at 7:30am, with the presentation at 8:00am, followed by discussion/feedback.
“This draft plan integrates months of research and analysis, and conversations with various constituencies about what they want to see in the South End,” explains David White, Director of Planning & Zoning for the City of Burlington. “Our urban planning consultants, Goody Clancy, are expert at looking at how infrastructure, ecosystems, economic development, transportation, industry and residential needs can be addressed in a plan. We very much want to maintain the character of the district while taking a pro-active approach to managing the evolution of the district.”

After the two Draft Plan launch events next week, the Draft Plan will be available for public comments and feedback until mid-August. A Final Draft of the plan will be presented to the City’s Planning Commission in mid-September.
