Karen Dawson
Dawson came to Vermont in 1973 study art and agriculture at UVM. She has owned and operated an art studio in the Burlington Lakeside Neighborhood since 1989.
The art works are based in the land and always begin outdoors. Whether agricultural, nature, city scape, or non-representational, Dawson’s goal is first and foremost to grapple with the formal issues of fine art such as line, shape, color, texture, movement and form.
Her unique style, while transcending the subject, at the same time lends an accessibility that invites connection.
“It’s all about connection—connection with nature, with each other and with ourselves.”
Dawson has been associated with Lawrence Ribbecke Stained Glass Studios since 1998. You may view a representative sample of her paintings, drawings and stained glass design at karendawson.com.
In addition, Dawson owns and operates Seventh Horizon Design Company, featuring note cards carried locally by Homeport, Cheese Traders, Healthy Living and Phoenix Books.
