Celebrate an exciting new addition to the South End streepscape, as the participants of BCA's inaugural Artist Apprenticeship Program unveil their new mural, Let It Be: A Cautionary Tale of the Pine Street Barge Canal. Over the course of a month, eight youth artists, under the guidance and direction of Juniper Creative Arts, gained hands-on experience in mural production from concept to completion while exploring the history and ecology of the South End’s Barge Canal. Their research inspired a new mural that reflects the site’s complex history, environmental impact, and the possibilities of healing when nature is allowed to thrive. The mural serves as a reminder that the harms of the past cannot be changed, but the future can be one of healing and hope. Join us in cheering on the work of these amazing artists!
This project has been funded in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC00A01141-1) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
