Opening Reception

Friday, February 5, 2027

5-7 PM

ARTIFICALIS, by accomplished French artist Laurent Grasso, presents a code-based “film machine.” Evolving to reflect the data collected via LIDAR scanners and hyperspectral cameras, Grasso’s video work centers on blending and shifting physical landscapes with digitally produced imagery, and exploring how human impact has transformed nature. “The idea of artificiality has been in my work for a very long time. I’ve always tried to give a virtual form to the world, through aerial views, through color changes. Today the world is “de-realizing” itself, detaching itself from reality...” - Laurent Grasso.

ARTIFICALIS is presented as a satellite exhibition of Metaphysical Maze, on view at Mass MoCA November 7, 2026
