For centuries, communities have gathered in the dark around a single source of moving light: the campfire, the woodstove, and, increasingly, the screen. Connecting Vermont’s rural identity with a history of changing technologies and economies, Low Light explores the space between the new and the analog, do-it-yourself sensibility that defines the state. Working in video projection, a medium made of light, these artists ask what is preserved, what is lost, and what emerges when one form becomes another.
