Upcoming Exhibitions
In Taken to Heart, Kathleen Schneider methodically creates work through time-intensive processes – hand-dyeing, sewing, and printmaking vivid sculptures, textiles, and prints. These "labors of love" are inspired by poetry, books, and Schneider's daily life, recalling ancestral practices in which women build community through shared handwork. Exploring the relationship between personal experience and larger social and political histories, the artist uses vibrant colors and shadows to investigate how humor and hope can exist alongside uncertainty and struggle, and how the current political landscape impacts our lives and communities. Taken to Heart weighs the balance between experiencing our feelings, responding to the world around us, and navigating everyday life.
