BCA COMMUNITY FUND 

To continue to foster a robust, healthy, creative community, support artists, and encourage innovation through the arts, BCA administers a grant fund of $35,000 from the City of Burlington. The purpose of the fund is to support artists’ and small arts organizations’ projects that contribute to the public good through a competitive grant process.

VISITING CRITIC PROGRAM

Burlington City Arts is proud to host a Visiting Critic program designed to connect Vermont artists with influential arts writers, institutional curators, and commercial gallerists. The program will bring distinguished art world individuals to Vermont to conduct one-on-one studio visits and to give a lecture that is free and open to the public. This continues BCA’s commitment to connecting the art and ideas of Vermont to a broader audience of influential contemporary art professionals. MORE >>>

 

SEVEN BELOW ARTIST INITIATIVE

The Seven Below Arts Initiative Artist-In-Residence Program was established to foster artistic development and to support arts education in the state of Vermont. Seven Below, in partnership with Burlington City Arts, is pleased to request proposals for six-week residencies at The Barn near Burlington, Vermont. The residencies are designed to provide artists with a peaceful, inspiring, and supportive environment for individual and/or collaborative new work. MORE >>>

 

BARBARA SMAIL AWARD PROGRAM

The Barbara Smail Award was established in 2003 by friends and family of Barbara Smail, a well-loved and highly respected artist from the Burlington area who died in the fall of 2001. MORE >>>

 

HERB LOCKWOOD PRIZE

The Herb Lockwood Prize was created to reward the pinnacle of arts leadership in the state of Vermont. The Prize recognizes artists who produce significant work in the areas of visual arts, music, writing, drama, dance, film, and fine woodworking―while also having a beneficent influence on the community.
