Dance in Place honors joy in Burlington. Taking inspiration from posters in the Vermont Queer Archives, the sculpture invites viewers to explore the evolving history of Burlington’s LGBTQIA scene.

The Education Justice Coalition, Burlington City & Lake Semester Program, and the Clemmons Family Farm contributed designs for several panels of the rhythmic dancers, whose forms were sourced from the artist’s photographic collection of 2016 Capital Pride.

The work includes subtle odes to Burlington’s history, including a tribute to 135 Pearls, clutched between the fingers of the Unity Player.
