Sunday Classical: Steve Klimowski Quartet
City Hall Park

Sip your coffee and start Sunday on a high note throughout July and August with Sunday Classical!

The Back-road Clarinets will be playing James Waterson’s wonderful Grand Quartet as well as transcriptions by Gershwin, Piazzolla and others. The Back-road Clarinets all hail from Franklin County; they are professional musicians and clarinet specialists, and all are students of the group’s bass clarinetist, Steven Klimowski. The beautiful, clear sound of the clarinet is a perfect match for this outdoor setting.

Margaret Barsumian studied with Klimowski from elementary school until she graduated from UVM. She has been the principal clarinetist in the Vermont Philharmonic, the Champlain Chamber Orchestra and many other musical organizations.

Bailey Brown is a recent graduate of UVM in music education and is currently teaching at the Fairfield Center School. Bailey studied with Klimowski while at UVM.

Steven Klimowski (bass clarinet) moved to Vermont in 1980 and began teaching the clarinet and saxophone students at UVM the following Fall. He had previously played with the Orchesta Sinfónica del Estado de México, the Vt. Symphony, the Mozart Festival and was founder and director of the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble from 1987 to 2020.
