Robert Brunelle Jr. finds himself drawn to themes such as loneliness of urban life, vernacular American architecture, and, in the words of Edward Hopper “sunlight on the side of a house”. Although he feels narrative has fallen out of fashion in our post-modern era, he considers himself a storyteller at heart, creating paintings ambiguous enough to give viewers room to use their imaginations to concoct their own stories about what is happening in them.
