City Hall Park

Community Spotlight

City Hall Park was created for the community. With that focus in mind, Community Spotlight features a re-occurring lineup of local arts groups every Tuesday evening. In 2022 we are proud to be supporting Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum TheaterBurlington Taiko, Swing Dance Jam, and Soulshine Power Yoga. Welcoming these groups to the park, supporting them with event production and marketing, and giving them the chance to connect with new audiences is what Community Spotlight is all about.

Join Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater in celebrating traditional West African music and dance. In the Bambara language of Mali, “Jeh Kulu” means “community” and this is exactly what they hope to build with audiences! Founded in 1993, Jeh Kulu brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to honor the joyous traditions of West Africa. Their vision is to raise cultural awareness, create a sense of community, and, at the same time, have fun! Jeh Kulu is comprised of 20+ talented artists, including several well-known Master Artists from Guinea, West Africa, and many highly-trained American Artists, who share traditional rhythms and dances from the countries of Guinea, Senegal, and Mali, West Africa. They are also proud to include an Apprentice Company and an ever-growing Junior Company!

Community Spotlight is canceled Tuesday, September 13 due to weather!

2022 City Hall Park programming is underwritten by the Pomerleau Family Foundation and The WaterWheel Foundation. Community Spotlight has support from City Market, Onion River Co-op.
