Join us at the BCA Center on Friday, June 6 at 5pm to celebrate the opening of two exciting summer exhibitions.
Jacob Hashimoto: a lowercase sky will transform the front first floor gallery with the artist’s immersive, site-specific installation that responds to the unique architecture of the gallery space. Jacob Hashimoto is renowned for his mesmerizingly immersive installations composed of thousands of layered, kite-like disks suspended from above that envelop the viewer. Combining traditional kite and pattern-making techniques, printmaking, and collage layered within the architecture of the space, Hashimoto composes a visually stunning landscape made completely by hand.
Upstairs, Animation as Art will present internationally and nationally recognized animators of film shorts showcasing animation as a lively, contemporary artistic practice. Artists delve into themes ranging from housing instability to game design, while also exploring expressive states of humor, nostalgia, fear, and compassion.
