An 18 piece jazz band plays outdoors on the brick surface of the Church Street Marketplace, with a white tent over a raised stage and Burlington's City Hall, a brick and white stone building behind them.

Twilight Series: Green Mountain Swing
City Hall Park

The 18-piece Green Mountain Swing Band performs tunes from the time when swing was king. Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman are all aboard the musical time machine, which also makes stops in the bop and post-bop eras, with a final foray into more modern melodies. Swing dancing is strongly encouraged.

All net proceeds of Green Mountain Swing are dedicated to a scholarship fund for young musicians in Central Vermont, helping them with expenses for private lessons, workshops, and music camps.  The Green Mountain Swing Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and accepts donations.  As well as supporting the Scholarship Fund, our playing provides us with the opportunity to continue to grow as musicians and, in the jazz tradition, to mentor the next generation. Band members range from their teens to their 80’s.
